What is Chiropractic?
Your Chiropractor is a musculoskeletal specialist, trained in assessment and diagnostic skills to assess the muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons and nerves in the body. Each patient will come to us for different reasons and it is important that we can identify that no body is the same. Treatment involves using hands-on techniques, soft tissue work, mobilisations and gentle manipulations to help restore movement and reduce pain. We have experience in treating a wide variety of conditions and will tailor your treatment to ensure the best possible outcome for you. We will also prescribe exercise to aid your progress and increase strength. It is our aim to get you pain-free and keep it that way, so that you can enjoy an active healthy lifestyle.
Who can have Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic is safe and can benefit people of all ages. Your Chiropractor will adapt their treatment technique to enable them to treat a variety of ages, fitness levels, complaints and lifestyles.
What can I see a Chiropractor for?
Once your chiropractor has thoroughly assessed and diagnosed your specific condition, they will be able to put together a plan of care to help you. Chiropractic is not just for the spine; we look at how the whole body moves and take your overall health into consideration.
At RKF Chiropractic our treatments address the following symptoms:
- Headaches and Migraine
- Neck Pain
- Shoulder Pain
- Back Pain
- Joint Pain
- Aches and pain caused by injuries and poor posture
What can I expect at my Chiropractic treatment?
Your chiropractor will undertake a thorough review of your history and a physical assessment. From that we will diagnose and devise a comprehensive treatment plan and recommended exercises to help with your recovery.
Your Chiropractor will talk through their findings with you and explain what techniques will be used and the likely length of your treatment plan, detailing any advice and helping you with any questions you may have, to ensure you get the best results.
Will Chiropractic hurt?
When a Chiropractor performs an adjustment, a quick change in pressure happens within the synovial joint. Gas bubbles are released which cause an audible sound to be heard. Adjustments are not associated with pain and they can often provide immediate relief of pain and symptoms. Occasionally, a little discomfort may be experienced when trying to get a joint moving that is particularly stiff but this is no different to the type of ache you might get when starting a new type of exercise or sport.
Becky is also qualified in the McTimoney Chiropractic technique, which is known as a gentler approach, whilst still providing the best care. This type of technique is incredibly beneficial for elderly populations or those who just prefer a gentler type of chiropractic treatment and some people prefer it because it does not usually create that same “cracking” noise. Please contact us if you are interested in the McTimoney Chiropractic technique or have any particular concerns or questions ahead of any treatment, we will be more than happy to discuss this with you.
